Background: Infants covered by Medicaid have higher respiratory syncytial virus (RSV) hospitalization rates than those with commercial insurance, but findings are limited to the inpatient setting. This birth cohort study describes healthcare encounters for RSV across all settings among infants covered by Medicaid and the Children's Health Insurance Program. Methods: Medicaid claims for infants born and residing in Arizona (AZ), California (CA), Florida (FL), Michigan (MI), North Carolina (NC), New York (NY), and Texas (TX) were analyzed for first diagnosis of RSV in 2016-2018 using International Classification of Diseases, Tenth Revision codes. Encounters on the day of first diagnosis were examined by setting in 7 states and by setting and race in CA, FL, and NC. Results: A total of 80 945 infants were diagnosed with RSV in 7 states in 2016-2018. The highest encounter rates for first RSV diagnosis were in the emergency department (ED) in 5 states (11.0-33.4 per 1000 in AZ, CA, FL, MI, and NY) and outpatient setting in 2 states (54.8 and 68.5 per 1000 in TX and NC). Significantly higher outpatient encounter rates were found in CA and NC for White infants compared to non-White infants. In NC, ED encounter rates were significantly higher for non-White infants than White infants, whereas in CA, the rates were comparable. In these 2 states, hospitalization rates were similar across groups. In FL, compared with White infants, non-White infants had significantly higher encounter rates in each setting on the day of first RSV diagnosis. Conclusions: This is the first study to describe the burden of RSV by setting and race. Medicaid infants who are newly diagnosed with RSV have the highest burden in ED and outpatient settings.

The significance of water culture in addressing water crises and ensuring water security has garnered considerable attention, emerging as a focal point in global change and water science research. Water culture is a societal adaptation to changes in hydrological systems. However, this needs to be acknowledged within contemporary discourse on water security governance. This study utilized historical policy document data from many sources, including local municipal records from Shaanxi and Gansu, and water conservancy records. It aimed to identify the significant nodes and stages of policy transformation in the Weihe River Basin (WRB) during the last century (1949-2020). This study employed a content analysis method to elucidate the evolutionary patterns of water culture in the study region during the previous century. Drawing on the co-evolution framework, our investigation delved into the reciprocal relationship between changes in water culture and the evolution of water security in the WRB. Our findings indicated that water culture transformation in the WRB has undergone four significant stages: the Disaster-Resistant Hydraulic (1949-1966), Irrigation Hydraulic (1967-1998), Resources Hydraulic (1999-2010), and Ecological Hydraulic (2011-2020) phases. Water security assessment showed that policy attention varied across the different stages. The disaster-resistant hydraulic phase primarily addressed water-related disaster concerns, whereas the irrigation hydraulic phase emphasized the scarcity of water resources. The resource hydraulic phase focused on ensuring the security of the water environment, while the ecological hydraulic phase placed emphasis on safeguarding water sustainability. Moreover, we found that prevailing water policies prioritize resolving isolated issues; however, water security is a multifaceted systemic matter that requires a comprehensive approach. This study has the potential to offer policy makers a more comprehensive and systematic perspective, enabling them to enhance their understanding of the underlying nature of the problems. Additionally, this study can assist in developing future water security policies.

BACKGROUND: Testicular cancer (TC) mostly occurs in men aged 14 to 44. Studies have shown that TC seriously damages male fertility, and 6% to 24% of patients with TC were even found to suffer from azoospermia when they are diagnosed. At present, some studies have pointed out that onco-microdissection testicular sperm extraction (mTESE) can extract sperm from tumor testicles. However, there are almost no reports on remedial measures after onco-mTESE failure. Given the valuable opportunity for fertility preservation in patients with TC and azoospermia, it is necessary to provide effective remedial methods for patients with failed onco-mTESE. METHODS: Two young men, who were diagnosed with TC and also found to have azoospermia, tried onco-mTESE while undergoing radical orchiectomy for fertility preservation. However, sperm extraction failed in both patients. Subsequently, the isolated testicular tissue of the patient in case 1 suffered from TC again, and the patient in case 2 was scheduled to receive multiple cycles of gonadotoxic chemotherapy. Because both had a plan to have a birth in the future, we performed remedial mTESE. RESULTS: Sperm was successfully extracted from both patients. The patient recovered well, without complications. The patient couple in case 1 underwent 1 intracytoplasmic sperm injection (ICSI) cycle but did not achieve clinical pregnancy. CONCLUSIONS: There is still an opportunity to extract sperm successfully using onco-mTESE, despite the difficulty of fertility preservation in TC patients with azoospermia. If sperm extraction from the tumor testis fails, implementing remedial mTESE as early as possible would likely preserve the last chance of fertility for these patients.

This study addresses the challenge of designing simple and environmentally friendly methods for the preparation of effective electromagnetic wave (EMW) absorbing materials with tailored microstructures and multi-component regulation. N, O doped walnut-like porous carbon composite microspheres loaded with FeCo nanoparticles (WPCM/Fe-Co) are synthesized through high-temperature carbonization combined with soap-free emulsion polymerization and hydrothermal methods, avoiding the use of toxic solvents and complex conditions. The incorporation of magnetic components enhances magnetic loss, complementing dielectric loss to optimize EMW attenuation. The unique walnut-like morphology further improves impedance matching. The proportions of Fe and Co components can be adjusted to regulate the material's reflection loss, thickness, and bandwidth, allowing for fine-tuning of absorption performance. At a low filling ratio (16.7%), the optimal WPCM/Fe-Co composites exhibit a minimum reflection loss (RLmin ) of -48.34 dB (10.33 GHz, 3.0 mm) and an overall effective absorbing bandwidth (EAB) covering the entire C bands, X bands, and Ku bands. This work introduces a novel approach to composition regulation and presents a green synthesis method for magnetic carbon composite absorbers with high-performance EMW absorption at low loading.

BACKGROUND: The ubiquitin ligase HECT, UBA, and WWE domain-containing E3 ubiquitin protein ligase 1 is essential for the establishment and maintenance of spermatogonia. However, the role of HECT, UBA, and WWE domain-containing E3 ubiquitin protein ligase 1 in regulating germ cell differentiation remains unclear, and clinical evidence linking HECT, UBA, and WWE domain-containing E3 ubiquitin protein ligase 1 to male infertility pathogenesis is lacking. OBJECTIVE: This study aims to investigate the role of HUWE1 in germ cell differentiation and the mechanism by which a HUWE1 single nucleotide polymorphism increases male infertility risk. MATERIALS AND METHODS: We analyzed HUWE1 single nucleotide polymorphisms in 190 non-obstructive azoospermia patients of Han Chinese descent. We evaluated HECT, UBA, and WWE domain-containing E3 ubiquitin protein ligase 1 regulation by retinoic acid receptor alpha using chromatin immunoprecipitation assays, electrophoretic mobility shift assays, and siRNA-mediated RARα knockdown. Using C18-4 spermatogonial cells, we determined whether HECT, UBA, and WWE domain-containing E3 ubiquitin protein ligase 1 participated in retinoic acid-mediated retinoic acid receptor alpha signaling. We performed luciferase assays, cell counting kit-8 assays, immunofluorescence, quantitative real-time polymerase chain reaction, and western blotting. We quantified HUWE1 and retinoic acid receptor alpha in testicular biopsies from non-obstructive azoospermia and obstructive azoospermia patients using quantitative real-time polymerase chain reaction and immunofluorescence. RESULTS: Three HUWE1 single nucleotide polymorphisms were significantly associated with spermatogenic failure in 190 non-obstructive azoospermia patients; one (rs34492591) was in the HUWE1 promoter. Retinoic acid receptor alpha regulates HUWE1 gene expression by binding to its promoter. HECT, UBA, and WWE domain-containing E3 ubiquitin protein ligase 1 participates in retinoic acid/retinoic acid receptor alpha signaling pathway and regulates the expression of germ cell differentiation genes STRA8 and SCP3 to inhibit cell proliferation and reduce γH2AX accumulation. Notably, significantly lower levels of HUWE1 and RARα were detected in testicular biopsy samples from non-obstructive azoospermia patients. CONCLUSIONS: An HUWE1 promoter single nucleotide polymorphism significantly downregulates its expression in non-obstructive azoospermia patients. Mechanistically, HECT, UBA, and WWE domain-containing E3 ubiquitin protein ligase 1 regulates germ cell differentiation during meiotic prophase through its participation in retinoic acid/retinoic acid receptor alpha signaling and subsequent modulation of γH2AX. Taken together, these results strongly suggest that the genetic polymorphisms of HUWE1 are closely related to spermatogenesis and non-obstructive azoospermia pathogenesis.

Patients with Idiopathic non-obstructive azoospermia (iNOA) can achieve fertility by extracting testicular sperm through microdissection testicular sperm extraction (mTESE). But more than half of iNOA patients still cannot benefit from mTESE. In recent years, some studies had reported that serum hormones may be related to the outcome of sperm retrieval, but few had been verified. We hope to obtain a predictive method that is convenient for clinical application and can help judge the outcome of sperm extraction before implementing mTESE. We performed a retrospective analysis of NOA patients who underwent mTESE in the same andrology center from June 2020 to November 2022. A total of 261 patients with complete data were collected, logistic regression analysis was performed and a predictive model was constructed. Then, from December 2022 to May 2023, one prospective cohort of 48 NOA patients who met the inclusion criteria from the same center was recruited to validate the risk prediction model. We successfully constructed a logistic regression model to predict the outcome of iNOA patients undergoing mTESE and found that higher serum anti-Müllerian hormone (AMH) levels were associated with failure sperm retrieval, resulting in an AMH cut-off of 2.60 ng/ml. The area under the receiver operating curve was 0.811, the sensitivity was 0.870, and the specificity was 0.705. Decision curve analysis demonstrated that the threshold probability was above 4%, and unnecessary mTESE could be reduced using this model. In a prospective cohort at the same center, 85.42% (41/48) of iNOA patients correctly identified the mTESE outcome using this model. A logistic regression model with AMH as an independent predictor can predict mTESE outcomes in iNOA patients. Preoperative selection of mTESE in patients with iNOA using this model had clinical benefit in reducing unnecessary surgery. The model demonstrated good accuracy in a small prospective cohort validation.

The recently discovered APRO (anti-proliferative protein) family encodes a group of trans-membrane glycoproteins and includes 6 members: TOB1, TOB2, BTG1, BTG2, BTG3 and BTG4. The APRO family is reportedly associated with the initiation and progression of cancers. This study aims to undertake a comprehensive investigation of the APRO family of proteins as a prognostic biomarker in various human tumors. We performed a pan-cancer analysis of the APRO family based on The Cancer Genome Atlas (TCGA). With the bioinformatics methods, we explored the prognostic value of the APRO family and the correlation between APRO family expression and tumor mutation burden (TMB), microsatellite instability (MSI), drug sensitivity, and immunotherapy in numerous cancers. Our results show that the APRO family was primarily down-regulated in cancer samples. The expression of APRO family members was linked with patient prognosis. In addition, APRO family genes showed significant association with immune infiltrate subtypes, tumor microenvironment, and tumor cell stemness. Finally, our study also demonstrated the relationship between APRO family genes and drug sensitivity. This study provides comprehensive information to understand the APRO family's role as an oncogene and predictor of survival in some tumor types.

As a frequently consumed beverage worldwide, tea is rich in naturally important bioactive metabolites. Combining genetic, metabolomic and biochemical methodologies, here, we present a comprehensive study to dissect the chemical diversity in tea plant. A total of 2837 metabolites were identified at high-resolution with 1098 of them being structurally annotated and 63 of them were structurally identified. Metabolite-based genome-wide association mapping identified 6199 and 7823 metabolic quantitative trait loci (mQTL) for 971 and 1254 compounds in young leaves (YL) and the third leaves (TL), respectively. The major mQTL (i.e., P < 1.05 × 10-5 , and phenotypic variation explained (PVE) > 25%) were further interrogated. Through extensive annotation of the tea metabolome as well as network-based analysis, this study broadens the understanding of tea metabolism and lays a solid foundation for revealing the natural variations in the chemical composition of the tea plant. Interestingly, we found that galloylations, rather than hydroxylations or glycosylations, were the largest class of conversions within the tea metabolome. The prevalence of galloylations in tea is unusual, as hydroxylations and glycosylations are typically the most prominent conversions of plant specialized metabolism. The biosynthetic pathway of flavonoids, which are one of the most featured metabolites in tea plant, was further refined with the identified metabolites. And we demonstrated the further mining and interpretation of our GWAS results by verifying two identified mQTL (including functional candidate genes CsUGTa, CsUGTb, and CsCCoAOMT) and completing the flavonoid biosynthetic pathway of the tea plant.

Male infertility is common and complex, presenting a wide range of heterogeneous phenotypes. Although about 50% of cases are estimated to have a genetic component, the underlying cause often remains undetermined. Here, from whole-exome sequencing on samples from 168 infertile men with asthenoteratozoospermia due to severe sperm flagellum, we identified homozygous ZMYND12 variants in four unrelated patients. In sperm cells from these individuals, immunofluorescence revealed altered localization of DNAH1, DNALI1, WDR66, and TTC29. Axonemal localization of ZMYND12 ortholog TbTAX-1 was confirmed using the Trypanosoma brucei model. RNAi knock-down of TbTAX-1 dramatically affected flagellar motility, with a phenotype similar to the sperm from men bearing homozygous ZMYND12 variants. Co-immunoprecipitation and ultrastructure expansion microscopy in T. brucei revealed TbTAX-1 to form a complex with TTC29. Comparative proteomics with samples from Trypanosoma and Ttc29 KO mice identified a third member of this complex: DNAH1. The data presented revealed that ZMYND12 is part of the same axonemal complex as TTC29 and DNAH1, which is critical for flagellum function and assembly in humans, and Trypanosoma. ZMYND12 is thus a new asthenoteratozoospermia-associated gene, bi-allelic variants of which cause severe flagellum malformations and primary male infertility.

BACKGROUND: Radiosensitivity of rectal cancer is related to the radiotherapy efficacy and prognosis of patients with rectal cancer, and the genes and molecular mechanisms related to radiosensitivity of rectal cancer have not been clarified. We explored the radiosensitivity related genes of rectal cancer at a multi omics level. METHODS: mRNA expression data and rectum adenocarcinoma (READ) data were obtained from the Cancer Genome Atlas (TCGA) and the Gene Expression Omnibus Database (GEO) (GSE150082, GSE60331, GSE46862, GSE46862). Differentially expressed genes between radiotherapy sensitive group and radiotherapy insensitive group were screened. GO analysis and KEGG pathway analysis were performed for differentially expressed genes. Among the differentially expressed genes, five core genes associated with rectal cancer prognosis were selected using random survival forest analysis. For these five core genes, drug sensitivity analysis, immune cell infiltration analysis, TISIDB database immune gene correlation analysis, GSEA enrichment analysis, construction of Nomogram prediction model, transcriptional regulatory network analysis, and qRT-PCR validation was performed on human rectal adenocarcinoma tissue. RESULTS: We found that 600 up-regulated genes and 553 down-regulated genes were significantly different between radiotherapy sensitive group and radiotherapy insensitive group in rectal cancer. Five key genes, TOP2A, MATR3, APOL6, JOSD1, and HOXC6, were finally screened by random survival forest analysis. These five key genes were associated with different immune cell infiltration, immune-related genes, and chemosensitivity. A comprehensive transcriptional regulatory network was constructed based on these five core genes. qRT-PCR revealed that MATR3 expression was different in rectal cancer tissues and adjacent non-cancerous tissues, while APOL6, HOXC6, JOSD1, and TOP2A expression was not different. CONCLUSION: Five radiosensitivity-related genes related to the prognosis of rectal cancer: TOP2A, MATR3, APOL6, JOSD1, HOXC6, are involved in multiple processes such as immune cell infiltration, immune-related genes, chemosensitivity, signaling pathways and transcriptional regulatory networks and may be potential biomarkers for radiotherapy of rectal cancer.

Populus euphratica and Tamarix chinensis play a vital role in windbreak and sand fixation, maintaining species diversity and ensuring community stability. Managing and protecting the P. euphratica and T. chinensis forests in the Heihe River's lower reaches is an urgent issue to maintain the desert region's ecological balance. In this study, based on the distribution points of P. euphratica and T. chinensis species and environmental data, MaxEnt and random forest (RF) models were used to characterize the potential distribution areas of P. euphratica and T. chinensis in the lower reaches of the Heihe River. The results showed that the accuracy of the RF model was much higher than that of the MaxEnt model. Both the RF and MaxEnt models showed that the distance to the river greatly influenced the distribution of P. euphratica and T. chinensis. Furthermore, the RF model predicted significantly larger highly suitable areas for both P. euphratica and T. chinensis than the MaxEnt model. Our study enhances the understanding of the species' spatial distribution, offering valuable insights for practical management and conservation strategies.

Polyphenols and amides isolated from natural products have various biological functions, such as antioxidant, antimicrobial, anticancer, and antiviral activities, and they are widely used in the fields of food and medicine. In this work, four novel and environmentally friendly amide-modified gallic acid derivatives (AMGADs), which were prepared by using different amides to modify gallic acid (GA) from Polygonaceae plants, displayed good antiultraviolet (anti-UV), antioxidant, antimicrobial, and anticancer effects. Significantly, the anti-UV capability of compounds n1 and n2 was notably superior to that of the UV absorber GA. Moreover, compound n2 possessed better 2,2-diphenyl-1-picrylhydrazyl radical (DPPH•) scavenging ability and ferric reducing antioxidant power than vitamin C. The antibacterial activities of all AMGADs, with inhibition rates of more than 96.00 and 79.00% for Escherichia coli and Staphylococcus aureus, respectively, were better than those of GA. Compound n1 had broad-spectrum anticancer activity, and its inhibitory effect on HepG2 cells exceeded that of 5-fluorouracil. The good and rich bioactivities of these AMGADs revealed that combining GA with amides is conducive to improving the activity of GA, and this study laid a good foundation for their scientific application in the fields of food and medicine.

Fenghuang Dancong tea (FHDC), a famous oolong tea originating from Guangdong Province in China, is known for its rich and unique fragrance. Nevertheless, the identification of the key aroma compounds with the difference fragrance types of FHDC remains uncertain. In order to characteristic the volatile components in different fragrance types of FHDC, 10 well-known fragrance types of FHDC and Tieguanyin (TGY) as a control were analyzed by headspace solid-phase microextraction (HS-SPME) coupled with gas chromatography mass spectrometry (GC-MS). Results indicated that 172 volatile compounds were identified as common volatile compounds among all the tea samples. A total of 16 compounds were identified as key compounds that could be used to distinguish between FHDC and TGY. Among the 10 FHDC fragrance types, indole, hotrienol, benzyl nitrile, and jasmine lactone were found to be the most abundant compounds. Despite the presence of certain similarities in aroma components, each type exhibits unique fragrance characteristics as a result of variation in compound composition content and proportion. Furthermore, using statistical and odor activity value analysis, 20 aroma-active compounds were recognized as potential characteristic markers accountable for the diverse fragrance types of FHDC. This research enhances our comprehension of the various fragrance types of FHDC and provides reference values for their rapid identification in the market.

Purpose: We have demonstrated that the depth of unbalanced interocular suppression can be quantified by balancing the interocular luminance differences required when both eyes are viewing simultaneously. In this study, we aimed to investigate the applicability of this method in children with intermittent exotropia (IXT), offering a quantitative assessment of interocular suppression in individuals with binocular imbalance. Additionally, we evaluated its association with the clinical characteristics of IXT. Methods: Interocular suppression in IXT was quantitatively measured using a polarizer and neutral-density (ND) filters. The density of the ND filter was adjusted incrementally from 0.3ND to 3ND, with a step size of 0.3ND (a total of 10 levels). Our prospective study involved 46 patients with IXT (mean age: 10.12 ± 4.89 years; mean ± SD) and 24 normal observers (mean age: 7.88 ± 1.83 years). Results: The suppression test exhibited good test-retest reliability, supported by statistical analysis. We observed more pronounced interocular suppression in individuals with IXT compared to controls. Notably, the magnitude of suppression during distant and near viewing significantly differed in IXT (1.55 ± 0.93 vs. 0.57 ± 0.64; Z = 4.764, p < 0.001). Furthermore, we identified a positive correlation between interocular suppression and data obtained from the Worth-4-Dot test. Additionally, interocular suppression showed a significant association with distance control scores. Conclusion: Our novel test offers a convenient and reliable means to quantify interocular suppression in patients with IXT. The quantitative assessment of interocular suppression provides a sensitive tool to evaluate the clinical characteristics of IXT.

Colon cancer (CC) has a poor 5-year survival rate though the treatment techniques and strategies have been improved. Succinylation and long noncoding RNAs (lncRNAs) have prognostic value for CC patients. We analyzed and obtained succinylation-related lncRNA by co-expression in CC. A novel succinylation-related lncRNA model was developed by univariate and Least absolute shrinkage and selection operator (Lasso) regression analysis and we used principal component analysis (PCA), functional enrichment annotation, tumor immune environment, drug sensitivity and nomogram to verify the model, respectively. Six succinylation-related lncRNAs in our model were finally confirmed to distinguish the survival status of CC and showed statistically significant differences in training set, testing set, and entire set. The prognosis of with this model was associated with age, gender, M0 stage, N2 stage, T3 + T4 stage and Stage III + IV. The high-risk group showed a higher mutation rate than the low-risk group. We constructed a model to predict overall survival for 1-, 3-, and 5-year with AUCs of 0.694, 0.729, and 0.802, respectively. The high-risk group was sensitive to Cisplatin and Temozolomide compounds. Our study provided novel insights into the value of the succinylation-related lncRNA signature as a predictor of prognosis, which had high clinical application value in the future.

The efficacy of soccer players is influenced by morphological, functional, and psychological characteristics that define the optimal playing style and game outcomes. It is generally accepted that soccer is a prolonged, high-intensity, intermittent sport where players must sprint repeatedly and frequently throughout a 90-minute match. The average intensity of their exercise is between 80 and 90 percent of their maximum heart rate or anaerobic threshold. This innovative study aims to determine how high-intensity football affects cardiovascular and pulmonary characteristics. The data for this study are collected using a Likert scale from university soccer players. The research revealed that cardiovascular and respiratory parameters significantly influence high-intensity football training. This study is innovative due to its research concept and substantial implications for theory and practice. The prospective directions of this research are also essential for critically advancing the body of knowledge.(AU)

Non-syndromic tooth agenesis (NSTA) is one of the most common dental developmental malformations affected by genetic factors predominantly. Among all 36 candidate genes reported in NSTA individuals, EDA, EDAR, and EDARADD play essential roles in ectodermal organ development. As members of the EDA/EDAR/NF-κB signaling pathway, mutations in these genes have been implicated in the pathogenesis of NSTA, as well as hypohidrotic ectodermal dysplasia (HED), a rare genetic disorder that affects multiple ectodermal structures, including teeth. This review provides an overview of the current knowledge on the genetic basis of NSTA, with a focus on the pathogenic effects of the EDA/EDAR/NF-κB signaling pathway and the role of EDA, EDAR, and EDARADD mutations in developmental tooth defects. We also discuss the phenotypic overlap and genetic differences between NSTA and HED. Ultimately, this review highlights the importance of genetic analysis in diagnosing and managing NSTA and related ectodermal disorders, and the need for ongoing research to improve our understanding of these conditions.

Persistent luminescence nanoparticle scintillators (PLNS) have been attempted for X-ray-induced photodynamic therapy (X-PDT) because persistent luminescence after ceasing radiation can make PLNS use less cumulative irradiation time and dose to generate the same amount of reactive oxygen species (ROS) compared with conventional scintillators to combat cancer cells. However, excessive surface defects in PLNS reduce the luminescence efficiency and quench the persistent luminescence, which is fatal to the efficacy of X-PDT. Herein, the PLNS of SiO2@Zn2SiO4:Mn2+, Yb3+, Li+ was designed by the energy trap engineering and synthesized by a simple template method, which has excellent X-ray and UV-excited persistent luminescence and continuously tunable emission spectra from 520 to 550 nm. Its luminescence intensity and afterglow time are more than 7 times that of the reported Zn2SiO4:Mn2+ used for X-PDT. By loading a Rose Bengal (RB) photosensitizer, an effective persistent energy transfer from the PLNS to photosensitizer is observed even after the removal of X-ray irradiation. The X-ray dose of nanoplatform SiO2@Zn2SiO4:Mn2+, Yb3+, Li+@RB in X-PDT of HeLa cancer cells was reduced to 0.18 Gy compared to the X-ray dose of 1.0 Gy for Zn2SiO4:Mn for X-PDT. This indicates that the Zn2SiO4:Mn2+, Yb3+, Li+ PLNS have great potential for X-PDT applications.

Guangdong black teas have diverse flavors and aromas. To explore the molecular basis of these aromas, we extracted and analyzed the volatile flavor compounds of 31 black tea samples from 7 districts (Yingde, Luokeng, Renhua, Meizhou, Chaozhou, Lianshan, and Heyuan) in Guangdong Province with headspace solid-phase microextraction (HS-SPME) coupled with gas chromatography-mass spectrometry (GC-MS). Then, 135 volatile flavor compounds (VFCs) were identified and grouped into 12 classes according to their chemical structure. Notably, alcohols accounted for 31.40-44.43% of total VFCs. The score plot of supervised partial least squares-discriminant analysis (PLS-DA) revealed good discrimination for most black tea samples. Additionally, 64 compounds with variable importance in projection > 1.0 were identified as differential odorants. Through an odor activity value analysis, eight volatile compounds were identified as the key active differential VFCs: linalool, methyl salicylate, phenylethyl alcohol, p-cresol, 3-methyl-butanoic acid, geraniol, benzaldehyde, and benzeneacetaldehyde. Thus, benzeneacetaldehyde and linalool in YJ-Yingde samples, benzaldehyde in Luokeng samples with an almond-like aroma, phenylethyl alcohol in the Heyuan samples, and p-cresol and 3-methyl-butanoic acid in the Chaozhou samples were the key volatile flavor compounds that could differentiate local black teas from other black teas. These findings will enrich the research in tea aroma chemistry and provide a method for identifying the origins of Guangdong black teas.

Far-infrared (FIR) is considered to be an ideal method to promote fatigue recovery due to its high permeability and strong radiation. In this paper, we report a flexible and wearable graphene heating device to help fatigue recovery of human exercise by using its high FIR divergence property. This study compares two different fatigue recovery methods, graphene far-infrared heating device hot application and natural recovery, over a 20 min recovery time among the male colleges' exhaustion exercise. Experimental results show that the achieved graphene device holds excellent electro-thermal radiation conversion efficiency of 70% and normal total emissivity of 89%. Moreover, the graphene FIR therapy in our work is more energy-efficient, easy to use, and wearable than traditional fatigue recovery methods. Such an anti-fatigue strategy offers new opportunities for enlarging potential applications of graphene film in body science, athletic training recovery, and wearable devices.
